We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven qualified candidates to fill the position of Quality Assurance Field Officer. This position is critical in ensuring the production and delivery of high-quality seed that meets both local and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure foundation and certified seed production processes comply to local certifying authority rules and regulations through monitoring of production fields.
- Establishment, management, and evaluation of summer (maize) grow- outs for both parent and certified seed crops.
- Auditing of demo plots under Sales & Marketing and Production pilot plots.
- Waste Reduction in Value Chain
- Collection, preparation and submission of freshly harvested parent and certified maize seed samples to Molecular laboratory for genetic purity tests.
- Preparation and submission of parent and certified maize seed samples to Zim labs for molybdenum tests.
- Preparation and submission of treated maize seed samples for Active Ingredient (AI) tests
- In-trade auditing of Agro-dealers to ensure compliance to seed storage standards.
- Management
- Formulation, implementation, and management of budget for Quality Assurance field activities.
- Identification and recommendation of appropriate training and development needs
- Submit Weekly & Monthly reports
- Stakeholder management (internal & external)
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in seed production, seed processing, quality assurance, or field agronomy.
- Knowledge of seed legislation and quality standards in Malawi.
- Strong report writing and data analysis skills.
- Valid vehicle driving license is required.
