As we celebrate our 85th Anniversary, Seed Co is proud to offer scholarships to support passionate and dedicated students pursuing higher education in agricultural fields. We recognize the vital role agriculture plays in our society and are committed to fostering the next generation of agricultural leaders, innovators, and stewards of the land. Seed Co develops and markets certified crop seeds, mainly hybrid maize seeds, but also wheat, soya beans, barely, sorghum, and seeds.

Seed Co is the leading certified seed company authorised to market seed varieties developed by itself, government and other associated seed breeders in over fifteen (15) African countries. We have maintained a strong market share among communal and commercial farmers from years of intensive investment in Research & Development. The company is involved in the breeding, multiplication and distribution of hybrid maize, wheat, soyabean, beans, rice, potatoes, sorghum, cotton and vegetable seeds.

Eligibility Criteria

Who can Apply for this Scholarship

Applicants for the Seed Co Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of any of the countries where Seed Co operates.
  • Be currently enrolled or accepted for enrolment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university or college.
  • Be pursuing a degree in an agricultural field, such as:
  • Agronomy
  • Animal Science
  • Horticulture
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Sustainable Agriculture
  • Have a minimum GPA of 45 pass scale.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to a career in agriculture.
  • Demonstrate financial need

Application Process:

To apply for the Seed Co 85th Anniversary Scholarships, applicants must submit the following:

  • A completed online application form.
  • Official academic transcripts from all previously attended institutions.
  • A personal essay (approximately 500 words) describing your passion for agriculture, your career goals, and how the scholarship will help you achieve them.
  • Two letters of recommendation from teachers, professors, or other individuals who can attest to your academic abilities and character.
  • A copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA (if applicable).

Selection Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Academic achievement
  • Strength of personal essay
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to agriculture
