Seed Co’s dates St. Michael School in driving menstrual health awareness

Seed Co Zambia Limited has continued to reaffirm its commitment to supporting education and community development through a donation of 606 sanitary packs to St. Michael Primary and Secondary School, an initiative aimed at ensuring the girl-child is uplifted.
The donation was received by Headteacher Mr Anthony Chilambwe, who shared the remarkable growth story of the school while welcoming the Seed Co team.
The Headteacher explained that the school has 1,024 learners, of which 534 are girls. The strong presence of girls at the school reflects the community’s growing commitment to promoting female education.
During the visit, Seed Co Zambia Managing Director Mrs Grace Tumeo Bwanali encouraged the girls to prioritise menstrual health and personal hygiene, explaining that access to proper sanitary products is essential for their health, confidence, and academic progress.
She noted that in many communities, girls are forced to use unsafe alternatives due to lack of resources, which can expose them to infections and discomfort. Access to safe sanitary towels, she emphasised, ensures that girls remain comfortable and able to participate fully in school life without missing lessons.
“When girls are supported with the right sanitary products and knowledge about menstrual hygiene, they remain in school, focus on their studies, and build the confidence needed to pursue their dreams.”
Beyond the immediate impact of the donation, the visit also carried a powerful message about the long-term value of educating girls. A girl who consistently attends school is more likely to complete her education, pursue professional careers, and contribute meaningfully to her community and nation. Mrs Bwanali was accompanied by senior members of the Seed Co management team being Tichaona Ravasingadi, Finance Director and Nyambe Mubita, Human Resources & Administration Manager.
In her vote of thanks, Head Girl Nalishebo Simbula expressed heartfelt gratitude to Seed Co Zambia for their generous gesture and extended her best wishes on behalf of St Michael’s School for Seed Co’s continued success in all its operations.
