With reference to the above stated subject, Seed Co Zambia Limited wishes to fill the vacant position of Product Development Officer to be based in Lusaka. This position will report to the Product Development Lead and shall be responsible for among other duties:

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the formulation of a protocol for the systematic evaluation, identification, registration & release, growth, decreasing and delisting of commercial varieties across all the relevant crops on the market.
• Timely designing & implementing Product Development Strip Trials (PDST) on established commercials against newly released commercials, internal & external release candidates and checks.
• Organize in liaison with the Management, Product Development Strip Trials tours for R&D, Sales & Marketing and Business Development
• Collecting, analyzing, reporting & presenting on Product Development Strip Trials data to R&D, Sales & Marketing and Business Development
• Access & analyze market surveys data to inform strategic planning processes.
• Formulation of product placement and market segmentation recommendations
• Participate and observe activities in R&D Yield Trials and Crop Tours, Internal Strip Trials
• Promoting Variety adoption as reflected by increasing sales of newly launched products.
• Record farmer engagement at all levels – Communal, Small scale, Emergent & Commercial
• Linking critical stakeholders to Seed Co through partnerships in Product Development Strip Trials and Field Days Key skills
• Knowledge in Plant Breeding & Crop agronomy
• Competent Strip Trials Data analysis & Reporting

Qualifications

• Minimum Degree in Agriculture or Business-Related Field
• Member of Agricultural Institute of Zambia
• Must have SCCI Practicing License
• Relevant Field Experience
• Motor Vehicle Driver’s License (Minimum 2 Years of Driving as per Insurance Regulations)
