For mothers and newborns, comfort, warmth, and a supportive environment play an important role in the journey of care and recovery. Recognising the importance of creating dignified spaces for mothers, newborns, and healthcare workers, we donated winter regalia comprising duvet sets and pairs of children’s and adult socks to the Maternity Wing at Chisomo Hospital in Lusaka West.

The donation, led by our Human Resources and Administration Manager, Nyambe Mubita, and received by Chisomo Hospital’s Medical Director, Professor Grave Singogo, took place on Monday, 28 July 2026. The event was attended by CSR Zambia Executive Director Mr Lee Muzala, members of the Chisomo Hospital management, and members of our management team.

At Seed Co Zambia, our corporate social responsibility initiatives are guided by the belief that our role in communities extends beyond agriculture. While we continue to support farmers through innovative seed solutions that contribute to food security and improved livelihoods, we also recognise the importance of supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and improve quality of life.

Speaking during the handover, Nyambe Mubita highlighted that the initiative was about more than simply providing items.

“We are not here merely to hand over items. We are here to deliver comfort. Today, we are proud to donate beddings and foot regalia to the Maternity Wing of this vital institution… We hope that these new beddings will provide a clean and restful space for recovery, and that the foot regalia will ensure the safety and warmth of the staff and mothers walking these floors.”

Nyambe further highlighted that the donation reflects one of our core values, People Our Pride, which speaks to our belief that our success is not only measured by our harvests or business performance, but also by the impact we create in the lives of the people we serve.

Receiving the donation on behalf of Chisomo Hospital, Medical Director Professor Grave Singogo expressed appreciation for the contribution, noting that the donation would provide meaningful support to mothers, newborns, and healthcare workers at the facility.

He highlighted that partnerships with organisations such as Seed Co Zambia play an important role in complementing healthcare efforts and enhancing the experience of patients, particularly mothers recovering after childbirth and newborns requiring a warm and supportive environment.

CSR Zambia Executive Director Mr Lee Muzala also commended Seed Co Zambia for the donation and our continued commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to community wellbeing.

Following the handover, our delegation toured Chisomo Hospital and the ZERA Nursing College premises, gaining further insight into the healthcare services provided by the institution and its role in training future healthcare professionals.

Through initiatives such as this, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to creating shared value and improving lives beyond agriculture. Guided by our belief in putting people first, we remain focused on building stronger communities and contributing to a healthier, more resilient Zambia.
