30th April 2026 was a joyous occasion at Seed Co that celebrated milestone achievements and performance across the business via its biggest resource – the people.
It is within this context that Seed Co Zambia marked the 2026 Labour Day commemorations, celebrating excellence across its workforce under the national theme: “Securing Zambia’s Future of Work: Protecting Jobs, Skills and Pensions for Decent Work for All.”

The theme resonated deeply with the organisation’s values, Innovation, People Our Pride, Integrity, Teamwork and Partnerships, and Quality Focus, reinforcing a commitment not only to business growth, but to sustainable livelihoods and a future-ready workforce.
Delivering her opening address, Managing Director Mrs Grace Bwanali reflected on a year defined by resilience, strategic discipline, and collective accountability.
“People are our greatest resource. We continue to not only produce seed but we are growing talent as well and that is reflecting in our high performance,” she said.
She highlighted the company’s strong performance across all sections of the business, noting significant growth compared to the previous year. She attributed this success to the dedication across all departments and encouraged employees to share the message of progress with their teams.
Board Director and Guest of Honor, Mr. Fred Banda, reinforced the centrality of human capital in the organisation’s success.
“It doesn’t just start with the right seed, it also starts with the right people,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of investing in talent, nurturing skills, and building a workforce capable of driving innovation and long-term impact.
Echoing this sentiment, Human Resource and Administration Manager Mr. Nyambe Mubita stated that Seed Co Zambia placed the spotlight firmly on employees as the foundation of the brand.
“Today, we celebrate the staff behind the brand, the employees who make this company what it is. Simply put, today we celebrate our people who are our pride,” he stated.

The event culminated in the presentation of awards across various categories, recognising excellence, dedication, and long-term service.
These included departmental Labour Day Awards spanning sales, commercial, production, research, marketing, and safety, as well as the prestigious Chairman’s Award accolade that rewards the employee of the year.
Long Service Awards were presented to employees who have dedicated 10, 15, and 20 years to the organisation, a testament to loyalty and sustained contribution.
