Seed Co Zambia Limited is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented, and strategic individual to join our organization as the Key Account Lead under the Sales & Marketing Department.
The incumbent, who will be based in Lusaka, Zambia, will be reporting to the Commercial Director and will be responsible for driving profitable growth for Seed Co, and must possess proven experience in the commercial sector.
Role-Summary: The Key Account Lead is responsible for building and maintaining strategic partnerships with the company’s most critical clients, such as national retail chains.
The primary goal is to drive sales volume of the seed portfolio among key stakeholders in the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, fostering long-term partnerships with large-scale buyers.
- Strategic Planning: Develop joint business plans with clients to meet sales targets, manage inventory levels, and forecast seed supply needs.
- Product Portfolio Management: Promote the company’s seed varieties (maize, soybean, wheat, vegetables, etc.), ensuring key accounts understand the genetic traits, yield potential, and disease resistance of new and existing products.
- Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and volume rebates while maintaining profitability and ensuring compliance with agricultural regulations.
- Agronomic Support: Coordinate with the technical/agronomy team to provide clients with expert advice, product training, and support to ensure end-customer success.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor and anticipate market activity, seed treatment trends, and regional planting intentions to report back to the marketing and product development teams.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Membership of the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM)
- Proven experience in B2B sales or account management within the seed, crop protection, or agricultural input industry.
- Deep understanding of the seed distribution channel and agricultural cycles.
- Strong negotiation and data analysis skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Existing relationships with key distributors in the country (preferred).
