Regional Sales Agronomist

Godfred Afrifa OWUSU is the Regional Sales Agronomist for Seed Co West & Central Africa. He is based in Accra, Ghana but responsible for product and market development of maize & other crops for Seed Co WECA varieties in West & Central Africa.

Before joining Seed Co West & Central Africa, Godfred worked as a Research Associate with The African Seed Company Ghana Ltd., Crops Research Institute as National Service Person, Master & PhD Research Fellow from 2012-2016 and 2018-2021, Graduate Assistant (Crop & Soil Science Department, KNUST) where he gained enough knowledge and experience in breeding field crops especially maize, soybean & rice. He currently holds MPhil Agronomy (Plant Breeding) degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. His MPhil research focused on generating high yielding tropical maize hybrids adaptable to the agro-ecologies to increase production and productivity of maize as an important food security crop in West & Central Africa (WCA). Godfred currently has four scientific publications and conference papers focused on enhancing food security and nutrition in WCA through plant breeding.

Godfred speaks English, Asante Twi and French (A1 DELF Certificate). He hopes to become an astute Research Scientist with significant contributions to the agricultural value chain for sustainable production and productivity of food crops to improve food security in Africa and beyond.
